I have seen a lack of etiquette in the collection of items.

If you are both heading for the same item and they get there first, so be it. First come, first served.

I may be old fashioned, but I feel it is not acceptable for someone to slide under you and take the item.

I am sure quite a few people have a slight lag in their browser and need to click it a few times before it registers.

Now you may say "every man for yourself" or "you snooze you lose", but remember this:

Nadirim is a finite universe and there are some vindictive people in it (of which I am not).

So one day you will have that "HELP ME" sign flying high and someone will join the combat long enough to type "remember when you took those red berries right from underneath me" before they leave you to your fate and go on their merry way.

I on the other hand will help you and at the end will say "remember this moment the next time you find it necessary to take a collection item out from underneath someone"

LOL This sounds so much like me. Can't begin to count the number of times that i clicked an item only to get a "*Loading" that lasted more than a minute. And some other player sees me there, not moving; sees the item, steals it from under my nose.
i just have to laugh it off. How are they to know that i'm not AFK?

Just a game my friend. Maybe that other player has been on the other side too: someone reached that red berry while he was lagging the last 2 or 3 times. Maybe he has been desperately searching for an hour to get that last berry. It can be frustrating, yes. But also frustrating to see nothing on the ground for so long, and then to see why: this other player (you?) has already scoured the area ahead of him.

Yeah, I wondered about future resource competition the very first moment I played and saw those. But, that was 3 weeks in after the game went live. Enna, Ashra were still ghost towns. So, had no such problems. The last time I went down there, the cities were buzzing with activities. I don't remember picking up anything at all there .

In zen, there's more traffic now. But, only once or twice I have to "compete" to pick up ground items. But, it could happen like Enna / Ashra where there's just too many people around, eventually. We're not there yet though.

So, what's the future solution? Higher spawn rate? Because keeping a ever growing thief / hate list isn't for me.

i mostly hang out in Enna now. Have no prob at all finding collectibles every day. In fact, i give the stuff away now. LOL sure, i could just leave them there for someone else to find, but heck, they respawn again so why not both of us? And ooo it's just my current variety of fun to pick up sparkly-shinys all over, then give them away, hopefully before i get that "Limit Reached" message.
Well all i mean to say is that there are still plenty of collectibles in Ennahar too.

If you're standing there sightseeing, then yes it is up for grabs If you are both going for it, whomever gets there first gets it, that's fine.

But when they are at the opposite end of the screen and have to see you move into pick-up position, then run over to it while you browser lags for 2 seconds, that is bad form.

I know this is only a game, but come on people.

A lot of people get dumped on, have their pleas for help ignored, and are the targets of hatred, prejudiced, etc in the "real" world.

What I am saying is, in a world that was pure and created without any of that, can't we do our best to "leave it outside" so we can escape for a few hours to a world where everyone respects everyone else.

That's all I'm saying

AFK is a shortening for "Away From Keyboard".

Don't have much to contribute with on this threads subject since I haven't seen this happen and I don't experience much lag either. Seems natural to me that it is "first come first served" in general and "need before greed" when you are with other players in a "group".

Absolutely.

I've partnered with lower level characters and walked over to the "collectable" and not taken it, to alert them to it.

I guess my problem is I expect people to have a little bit of manners and decorum which obviously is a fantasy in this world and any other.

Well, I'll take your word for it since you're in the area more than I. Maybe just a bad day to be there for me that time. Or, peak hours for new arrivals.

What I want to know is, do you notice if the respawn rate for Enna / Ashra appears to be faster than in Zen? It's possible that Devs already took population pyramid into account. If they haven't, perhaps it's time to start ?

Well, I'm not saying the general grievance has no merit. But, I want to give a bit perspective.

I've played another game where the resource competition is fierce and downright cut throat. That's why for that once or twice occasions I had here on Nadirim where I got the collectibles ninja'd from under my nose, I pretty much shrug it off. IMHO, they are not rare, and have fast respawn rate.

Here, we don't have extremely long respawn rate resources to fight over. Here, we cannot directly or indirectly attack another player at will, as PvP requires both parties consent, and no feature of indirect attack exist. Here, we cannot "execute" another player, which effectively will take the executed players out of commission (unplayable) for a certain period of time.

This is a more friendly and relaxed game environment. Players don't have to worry about the mentioned above. Players don't need to fear being put on execution rotation by powerful clan or group (pretty much game over once they reached this point, time to find a different new game or start over) .

Those are why I have a more relaxed view on this matter.

I do miss being able to execute anyone at will though... like that's any surprise .
