After a little confusion of people thinking I was Irrational Abstract (because I used the same avatar as he uses), I came with the idea:

Why not making the forum avatar = to character portrait. You guys already have the image of the portrait in the upper right corner so I would imagine it should not be very hard to link this to the picture from the forum.

Of course it's not a very important chance, but I believe more people would like this

I like the idea. If gem custom avatar is out of the question, this may be the next option.

It'd be like the portrait shown on char mouseover in the game (and our upper right portrait on all of the HTML pages). People can choose to use this or other preexisting avatars.
