In their current form, the Fighting Pits require too much tedious clicking by having to Accept/Finish 10 individual quests. It's also not the challenge I believe they're intended to be if you can fully recover between fights. I suggest the following minor changes to make Fighting Pits both more fun and challenging.
- Rather than having 10 individual quests costing a low amount of energy, have 1 quest costing a high amount of energy.
- The quest will require you to successfully complete 10 battles in a row which begins when you click on the Pit. If you fail to complete 10 in a row, you can still access the Pit and start over (no energy loss since you are ambushed when you click the Pit)
- After the last mob in a group is defeated, the new group is spawned/summoned and battle continues. There are no breaks in between fights.
- At the end of battle, rewards are given proportional to how many battles you won.

I support this idea. Firstly I also thought you must complete 10 fights in a row..but sadly not yet...
So it really would be better on this way and I think everybody would be happy about something bigger challenge

Your idea is what I assumed Fighting Pits would be in the first place. I think is a great suggestion, but there's something I'm not too sure about.
Correct me if I simply didn't understand what you meant, but doesn't having no energy loss when you retry after failing the Pit (Not making it through the 10 rounds) leave some room for abuse? I could just die on the last round then start over without spending anymore energy while still earning rewards "proportional to how many battles I won".

One good example, in my personal opinion, is the arenas in Mount & Blade. The way they work (in single player, mind you) is that the player can pop in at any time and join a sort of "Survival Mode" where he/she has to fight off as many NPC fighters (of random Levels) as possible before dying. If the character survives (by defeating 40 or so NPC fighters), he/she will receive a modest amount of cash and XP. I'm sure this is so players won't exploit the arena to level up too quickly.
Sometimes, every few days or so, the arenas are used for tournaments which are held in rounds. Anyone who is knocked out is out of the tournament. The beginning rounds are team versus team combats but in the later stages the fights are one on one. The champion will win a large amount of money, XP as well as fame.
Mount & Blade, all characters are stripped down (ie. no special armor or weapons), so it's purely based on individual skill. My suggestion is that in Nadirim, players can use everything they have (armor, weapons and spells). Also, it'd be fun to have tournaments in the fighting pits especially where other players can watch.
For Nadirim, I imagine something similar but more multiplayer based: King of the Hill type fights, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. It'd also be interesting if players watching the fights can place bets.

As with most things, there will always be cheaters that look to abuse the system. A proportional reward system is the best compromise. If you make it so that with each battle, the rewards get better and better, you give a player incentive to stay in the fight longer. Sure there will be people that try to get a free fight by continuously losing on purpose and restarting, but they will have a much harder time trying to level up this way than if they did regular battles on the map.
You also don't want to penalize the person that's honestly trying to win the challenge by having the initial quest cost energy and each subsequent try. That's why I proposed one large energy cost in the beginning, replacing all the small energy costs in the current system. The large, upfront cost should also help deter some of the potential cheaters.

Your description of "Survival Mode" is exactly what I pictured the Fighting Pits to be like, and I still hold out hope will eventually be like. Like more traditional gladiator combat. I'm pretty sure the Romans didn't let the gladiators stop for a water break in between fights.
As for King of the Hill, well that's something I'd love to see eventually in the PvP arena. I'd love to see an 8 man free-for-all fight to the death, but I think current game mechanics would not make that possible since Nadirim combat is team based. Maybe the Devs can look at ways they can bend the code to allow for a more exciting way to do PvP.

Glad to know, I'm not the only one expecting a Survival Mode for the Fighting Pits.
For Team Deathmatch, well, I don't know jack about coding, but wouldn't it be possible to either randomly appoint players to different teams or at least let players choose? Well, PvP would be awesome too in the mean time.

i think we need some pits in other towns too, not only in Ennahar.

+1 to higher / tougher fighting pits in other cities.
+1 on Survival Mode.
+1 on King of the hill Mode.
+1 on Team PvP.
Lots of good idea here that devs don't have to choose. Variety. Good.

The Lumberyard Fighting Pit in Upper Ennahar starts at level 2, but it also has a 2 Fame points requirement. When you get the first quest for Fame points, you are higher than level 2, so then the fights are much too easy in the fighting pit. Perhaps the level of the pit fights should be higher, or the Fame requirement removed.

Heh, yeah. Just found that out. At the time, didn't see the fame requirement and ALMOST post it in the bug section

. I think removing fame requirement would help newbies in this case from unnecessary bewilderedness. Unless of course, you're using this as an early introduction tool for fame.
