Out of all of the Sage's choice of weapon, the Bone Staff is the only one that makes sense (who casts magic with a dagger? That's hard to visualize. Daggers are for stealthy, stabbing types.) I think that players should be to buy bone staffs for dinars as well as gems. I understand that you sell the weapons for gems only because they are infinitely cooler than dinky daggers and thus that would increase your chance and getting more funds (which is fine because I eventually caved and spent the $5 on the gems to get it.) But I think that the staves can also be sold for dinars too, like weaker versions of them or something. Just something to give players an option other than the daggers because all of the other classes have weapons that make sense. The Sage, however should have that defining weapon and the dagger is not it. Or better yet, if you insist on selling staves for gems, then sell the scepters for dinars. They're close to staves and I won't feel as silly walking around town with that as opposed to a simple dagger or a skull attached to a chain for magic-casting (the latter being a more conceivable way of magic-casting but still kind of odd.) If you could take this into consideration I think a lot of players would appreciate it.

I think that daggers and sages do fit together. Of cause not that much that the other weapons. But its still ok for me.
There are staffs that you dont have to buy for gems out there. The lion boss for example drops one quite often for me.
And i think its ok that some of the coolest looking items are those what you can buy for gems. I for one never used an energy potion and im glad that i have the chance to support the game due to buying some cool looking stuff instead.
I think its normal, that you have to spend money in such games if you want to look special or realy cool.

Yeah, I think you're right. And that's fine. I would just like to see stave, or at least scepters, sold for gems and dinars. But I went ahead and bought that stuff because I like this game and I want the staff to keep up the great work.

Why is that hard to visualise? I can come up with countles acounts on magic + dagger. For example how many times have one not seen a ritual where the leader of the ritual uses a dagger to sacrifice something?

@ Indeva Well sure, but it's not like I'm sacrificing sheep left and right just to cast an Arcane Fire spell or whatever. If Sages had something like wands or even gloves, they'd be easier to visualize than a dagger. So the dagger amplifies magic. Fine. But why can the sage never use it in close combat? Sages can hit from a range but because of this game's design they will inevitably deal with close combat. Why bother throwing an arcane fire if I can just cut the guy?

Because you are a bookworm, not skilled in hand to hand combat. The enemy would easily block or evade your strike.

@ Malcolm Exactly. And that is why sages should equip more magical weapons like staffs. Daggers can be magical, sure (Prince of Persia anyone?) but it's hard to imagine a sage summoning a lava ball to hit enemies with a dagger and a book he is holding in the other hand with a strap...

Haha - I obviously took a bad example when I said sacrifice ritual since it left the bad image of the sage runing around with a bag of sheeps on his back. My point was simply that daggers are quite common in different magical traditions - nothing "farfetched" and I don't se why a wand would be more or less farfetched.

I agree. Plus, I prefer a shiny little dagger that is easily concealed to a big freaking stick with skulls and feathers.
But if someone likes the staves, I say why not offer some of them for dinars too.
http://nadirim.com/forum/post/8068
Oh i dunno about that. I imagine that magic users cast with mind and hand, not with a weapon: that the "weapon" is only to help focus magic power. But that may also come from an amulet or from something like those books you carry about.
Magic users are assigned daggers in other games cause a big weap interferes with use of hands in casting. Their "strength" lies not in muscles, but in mind. Makes sense to me.
Yeah staff and sceptre also very common, but nothing universal. And why would we want to make our beautiful game here just like all the others? Much of the appeal for me is because it is so different.
